We rebuilt Coffi.
Here’s what changed.

Coffi 2.0 is out, and it’s the biggest update since we launched. We rebuilt the app from the ground up and added brew recipes, your gear, Advanced mode for every bag, and a Passport on a 3D globe.

Until now, Coffi helped you find a coffee and remember whether you liked it. But how much you enjoy a coffee depends just as much on what happens at home: how you brew it, what you brew it with, and how fresh the bag is. Coffi 2.0 is about that part.

Why we rebuilt Coffi

Coffi started as a scanner and grew one feature at a time: ratings, Taste Match, Pro, then the marketplace. Recipes and gear touch almost every screen, and fitting them into the old app would have meant months of patching.

So we rebuilt it. You get 2.0 as a normal update, and everything in your account is still there. The new app can also take many fixes as small updates, without waiting for an App Store release, so improvements reach you faster.

Brew recipes in Coffi 2.0

The same coffee can taste great one morning and flat the next. Usually the difference is the recipe, and most of us keep it in our heads or in a notes app.

Now every coffee can have its recipe right next to it. Save the dose, water, temperature, grind and timing, and Coffi works out the ratio for you. Plan your pours step by step, or start from a well-known recipe.

Recipes are also meant to be shared. Send one as an image, attach it to a review, or save a friend’s recipe with credit to them. With Coffi Pro, save a new version each time you adjust a recipe, and go back to any earlier one.

A recipe’s version history: Version 3, the current one, changed the total time from 2:45 to 2:56, Version 2 changed the dose from 15.0 g to 15.9 g, and Version 1 was the first version
Version history keeps every version you save and shows what changed in each, here a dose raised from 15.0 g to 15.9 g.

Your gear, connected to your recipes

A recipe only really works with the gear it was written for. Twenty clicks on one grinder can be a very different coffee on another.

So you can now add your grinders, brewers, machines and filters to My Coffees. Save your grinder and machine settings and pull them straight into a new recipe. Each recipe remembers the gear it was brewed with, and each gear page lists its recipes.

A recipe, The Standard, brewed with a Hario V60, a Kingrinder K6 and Hario V60 filters: 19.0 g of coffee to 300 g of water at 94 °C, a 50 g bloom for 30 s, 3:00 in total and a ratio of 1:15.8
A recipe keeps the gear it was brewed with, here a Hario V60 and a Kingrinder K6, and works out the ratio: 1:15.8.

Every bag, not just every coffee

When you love a coffee, you buy it again. But every bag is different: a new roast date, maybe a different price, maybe one waiting in the freezer.

With Coffi Pro, Advanced mode tracks each bag as its own record, with its size, roast date, price and where you bought it. Freeze and tag bags, link notes to them, and set a resting period that adds the ready date to your Apple or Google Calendar. Resting is the time after roasting when coffee settles before it tastes its best.

One bag of Decaf Balanced from The Barn, in the freezer: 250 g, roasted September 15, 2026, harvested June 2025, bought for $25.99 on September 9, 2026 at The Barn Ku’damm
A bag of The Barn’s Decaf Balanced as its own record: in the freezer, with its roast date, its harvest and where it was bought.

Your Passport on a real globe

Every coffee comes from somewhere, and seeing your origins on a map is one of the simplest ways to notice what you keep coming back to.

On iOS, the Passport now sits on a 3D Apple Maps globe. Search any coffee by name or roaster and fly straight there. With Coffi Pro, a heat map shades each country by its share of your coffees.

Also new in 2.0

  • A redesigned My Coffees, with your coffee wall, recipes and gear in one tab.
  • Roaster updates, so you hear when a roaster releases a new coffee.
  • Public recipes and gear on your profile, for others to save.
  • Press and hold a coffee, roaster, person or collection to preview it, on iOS.
  • Screens that wait while you’re offline and reload once you’re back.

Advanced mode, recipe version history and the Passport heat map are part of Coffi Pro. The 3D globe and the heat map are on iOS.

Three weeks later: Coffi 2.1

A rebuild is only worth it if things keep getting better quickly. Coffi 2.1 came out on October 8, 18 days after 2.0.

The scanner is where Coffi started, so it was first in line. It’s now faster and finds the exact coffee more often. When a coffee isn’t in Coffi yet, it tells you instead of guessing, because a wrong match is worse than no match.

Also new in 2.1

  • Two Friends feeds: For you, from across Coffi, and Following, from the people you follow.
  • A podium for the leaderboard’s top three, with a crown for first place.
  • Marketplace shipping costs in your own currency, at live exchange rates.
  • Select many coffees at once, then save, archive, finish or delete them together.

What’s next

Recipes, gear and bag tracking are the first things we built on the new foundation. On the marketplace side, subscriptions, curated collections, limited releases and gifts are still on the roadmap.

Same Coffi, new foundation.
